R E V I S I T E D P H O T O G R A P H Original Photograph 1978 - CAMBO 4x5 Solange in Box Back in 1978, I made this Photograph of my daughter Solange, titled "Spare Doll's Head". Well let me tell you, the situation was quite different from 2008. The image was made with a Speed Graphic 4x5" and 210mm Nikon lens. The lights I used were ArgaPhoto 500 watt photofloods. The exposure was 1 second @ f11. Not a very convenient shuttertime for a young child. I made two images on Color negative film and two transparencies. As a student at the time, I could not afford any mistakes as film was not cheap... The resulting images were the proof, I was a good student after all :-) My daughter has two daughters, the eldest one Femke (8) and Boukje (5). The Spare Doll's head became very interesting to Femke and she asked me several times If I could make one of her in the box. I could not resist and finally I gave in... FEMKE Photograph 2008 - FINEPIX S3 Revisited Photograph on FinePix S3. FEMKE This is the remake of Solange in the box. This time I had her two daughters as a model Spare Head. Photograph was made with the FujiFilm FinePix S3. The lights were Elinchrom Studio flash units with umbrella. Actually, I have changed the background and wrapping paper. BOUKJE Photograph 2008 - FINEPIX S3 Revisited Photograph on FinePix S3. BOUKJE Of course, the similar question from Boukje could not be ignored. Amazing how those kids handled the situation, they immediately understood the pose I explained to them in a short briefing and giving them instructions during the shoot. The exposure time was not that critical any more, so I could make several exposures of each in a short time. Finding the best one took more time, as they all looked perfect!
