'A camera is as good as its lens mounted' |
UNDER CONSTRUCTION...
Above left the Apo Germinar W8/150 by Docter optics-Saalfeld. 8 elements in 8 groups! It sure has a reason why I did mount it on a "Special" board... Fujinon 150 versus Germinar 150 Must read for the sharpness freaks... Originally a Repro barrel plasmat and corrected for 1:1. Ours is mounted in a Copal 1 shutter. Worth to mention as this is a highly corrected lens with an image circle of 184mm. On the right you can see the lens elements and construction. Using this one when pinpoint sharpness is required and for 1:1 when zero distortion is called for... With the proper tools, switching between Graflex and Linhof lensboards is a jiffy! One more thing, they are much harder to find than the Aero Ektar. Bernhard Docter died, the Docter Group went bankrupt. Docter Saalberg was taken over...by a holding a.o Rodenstock, Hella and Bosch. |
These two are barrel lenses indeed, both f4.5/210mm and suited for the SG. Left is the wellknown Schneider Xenar and on the right the unkown Chinese variant (Mil issue) Huaguang. Both lenses work very well, wide open the Huaguang produces nice dreamy soft images, stopped down however tack-sharp. Which one to use is purely a personal taste, the optics are rated very good. |
Two versions of the legendary Apo-Lanthar by Voigtlander - BraunSchweig. Probably the best lens ever? As the name let presume this lens contains glass with Lanthanum and Thorium as well. Despite all rumors, I would happily buy one from anybody who's scared off... Again "A camera is as good as it's lens mounted" ...Well with this lens mounted your Speed can be a winner.
A lot easier to mount than the Aero Ektar, but prices are steep.... |
Some more exotic optics: On the left Legendary Zeiss Biogon - 75mm f4.5
On the right, the Wisner convertable plasmat. |
The Box with the corresponding tables engraved on the lid. Clearly can be read which lenses to choose to get a specific F-length.
Advantage: light weighth for a lot of different F-lengths - huge imagecircle |
