Slide Rule from 1944 does the job without batteries..
Can we do Macro with the AE 7In?
Has Pinocchio wooden balls?

To do "Macro" with the Speed/Aero will force you to take full control over your photographic efforts, since there is no automation or electronics. You will have to do some arithmetic...
Throwing the gauntlet....Can you and do you dare ??

Without problems we can reach a magnification 1:1 with maximum bellows draw.
Just by coincidence I've found that a bellows draw of 314mm (equivalent of 100 x pi) divided by the focal length of the AE 178 would result in an exposure factor Pi.
This struck me as a magical factor, so I decided to go for some shots with the Aero and see what was behind this thought.
Again: "Expose for the Magic and develop for the surprises"

Judge for yourself...

Actual size of Honesty leaf

Checking our derived formula: 100 x Pi : 178 = Pi (Our BEF for on the go..)
I spotted this Honesty in the wild, setting my adjustments as explained earlier, focused on the GG. I did measure 1/1000 @ f4, applying our factor: Pi (3.14) x 1/1000. The nearest setting on the Speed's focal plane was 1/250. Close enough to make the exposure.

Technical details: Polaroid Type 56 (code 63 on 545 Pro filmholder) 400 Iso. - Exposure 1/250 @ f4. Field covered (M 0.7) approx 15x23 cm
Warning: Were we talking cm referring to DOF with normal use, now with using the Pi extension (M=0.7)we are talking mm.!!!

Lf images have such a quality that whatever you do, the next step always degrades some of that quality, be it scanning, printing, or any other means of translating those unbearably beautiful tonal values to another media.

Could not resist this one....Bellows draw slightly less (290mm) This time I've used Polaroid type 55 - 50 ISO.
Technical details: Polaroid type 55 50 ISO/Pos - 25 ISO/Neg - Exposed for 1/50 sec @ f5.6
Biggest problem was how to reach the Sunflower as it grew 2.50 meter!

Just to show the original Black & White scan of the negative...
The pol #55 is 50 ISO but if yo want the negative to work on later, ISO 25 is more appropriate!
