Is this meter alive?

Buying and collecting Directors.
esting can be done easily, when you have already one Director you trust. Needed is only a tiny flashlight - Led Lenser are excellent! - Mini maglight - e.o.
With the slide out or in and a position of the flashlight on top of the hemisphere, note the needle position.
Next time when you're at a garage sale or Photo show or dealer it is very easy to know if the meter responds to light and the most important if it matches our Director at home.
Ignore stunning faces and as a magician do your job..This time you will come home with a nice working meter! Note: With my Led-Lenser the correct position of the needle should be exactly between 250 and 500 as shown.(Slide out)
Slight deviations should and can be ignored.

OUTDOOR:
Take a reading on a clear sky any time between 10 A.M and 2 P.M.
Place your meter on a table or other flat surface not obstructed by nearby buildings or the like. It is important that there be no clouds or haze in the sky, because this will of course make a considerable vibration in the reading. However on a day when the sky is blue and free from haze you should expect approximately 250 candles per square foot.
Slight deviations from the value above can be disregarded: pecularities of atmospheric conditions can cause variations of 1/3 below or above normal.
