Original Idea and workouts by Don Norwood (1935) Personally I'm still anxious to know who designed this master piece which remained unchanged for more than 55 years!! The exposuremeter with hemisphere was finally granted U.S PATENT 2.214.283 in 1940. Models changed by type number with very few alterations through the years. Most significant are the Id plates and the F-numbers for direct reading with the ColorMatic slide. Actually as you can see even the L-398M has not changed much. Scales were adjusted with new time numbers and f-numbers, also for a short period Polaroid numbers could be used. The possibility to lock the needle was only recently in the type L-28C (1964) From model 398 it is optional to have the meter locked or unlocked for continuous metering!
Furtheron it is truly remarkable that such a wellknown meter had so less history (if any) to be found on the internet!
