One year later I got a second chance to watch the magic.
This time the distance was even more out of my reach, drinking my Java and watching, while thinking "Well I've got already one...last year". But having thought this, my mind began to stir how I could come close enough to make another photograph of the warming-up of the Dragonfly. I decided to mount my camera on a long pole and use the delayed release... While directing the pole with the camera close to the Dragonfly, I could watch the little screen as I aimed for the right position. This had to be done in one quick deliberate movement and holding firm at the moment of the release. It did not work...
Okay, get my hands dirty then....Lying on my stomach, one hand on the bottom of the pond I moved forward, holding my camera in the other hand.
When I reached the position my knees were still on the edge of the pond!
Made two exposures, my arm started trembling like hell, as this was taking a lot of energy and my breath aswell. |

| Must have another one, trying to steady I took the photograph at the same moment the Dragonfly took off....(I won't recall the words I shouted) I started to crawl back to a safe and steady position. Could not wait to process the Images. |

Remarkable the last Image said it all.....The real take-off! Again I asked for a photograph...and was rewarded! All images were taken with the CoolPix 950. Note the nice "Bokeh" Images were taken with the remarkable Macro option with a fairly large aperture to get the backgroud out of focus. |
