the SEKONIC STUDIO S.

At last...the Sekonic Studio S (Model L-28a) " Father of the later Sekonic Studio meters"
I have been looking for some time for a working meter as it is a really important model. From here the later models from Sekonic were developed from. The meter came in box, complete with all accessories and paperwork.

Very nice is the calibration card from that date before it left the premises. Out of the box the meter is working like yesterday...reading was checked with my Euromaster and was dead-on.

Checked the meter also at Noon (Foot-candle reading) as it matched the card reading (Hence actually this was done by artificial light, a tungsten light source was utilized)

This is the complete paperwork from those days...
Guarantee card(Unfortunately expired), calibration check card, ASA indexes and user manual.

The S series came with 3 slides, covering a range of film combinations.
Bright Slide (Nr 1) 10ASA - 1/50.
Slide Nr 2 ASA 16 - 1/50 || ASA 32 - 1/100 || ASA 64 1/200
Slide Nr 3 || ASA 50 - 1/60 || ASA 100 - 1/125 || ASA 200 - 1/250
As you probably noticed when you double the ASA value the Shutterspeed goes up factor 2 (1 stop) also, thus many combinations were possible. (A little mental calculation won't hurt)

How to use your Direct reading slides?

Your Brockway incorporates a direct reading scale for extremely fast operation. Where speed is more important than obtaining a complete selection of f/stop and shutterspeed combinations, this direct reading scale may be utilized with excellent results.

With your Brockway, you received three direct reading slides which are to be used with ASA and shutter speed combinations as follows:
SLIDE 1 - ASA 10/16> 1/50th or 1/60th
  - ASA 25> 1/100th or 1/125th
  - ASA 50> 1/200th or 1/250th
SLIDE 2 - ASA 16> 1/50th or 1/60th
  - ASA 32> 1/100th or 1/125th
  - ASA 64> 1/200th or 1/250th
SLIDE 3 - ASA 40> 1/50th or 1/60th
  - ASA 80> 1/100th or 1/125th
 - ASA 100> 1/100th or 1/125th
SLIDE OUT - ASA 10/16> 1/2 sec
  - ASA 100> 1/30th
  - ASA 200> 1/60th
  - ASA 400> 1/125th

These direct reading slides preset the meter for one particular film and shutter speed combination. For example with Kodachrome (ASA 10) in your camera, you simply set the shutter at 1/50th sec, insert slide 1 into the slot, point the meter for reading, then note the f stop indicated when the needle stops.

That is your correct f/stop - then you shoot with confidence.
